Another Mask


A mask of plastic happiness often covers

the sadness of the soul
Her truth hidden from most
Afraid sometimes, but willing to face the

unknown
Wondering where her place is in this

time




She has come close to sharing herself
Never completely revealing her oneness
Feelings of invisible chains corner her
When she dreams, reality shatters

before her very eyes
Accomplishments she strives for just

at hands grasp




She feels lost sometimes, not yet finding

her notch in this world
At times the glimmer in her calm eyes

slowly disappears
But within her heart a silent flame burns
She roams day by day, playing roles
Strength unknowingly resides in her




History repeats itself once again
The translucent veil she so proudly wears

Has slipped, seen by the one who reads

between the lines
Little by little the answers will surely

come, pushing it aside
One day there will be no more mask for

her to wear




In time her beliefs will be held so high
Her names will unite in faith, in truth

The ones who stand with her will stand

so tall

Who is AndromedaHeightz?

Artist, performer


Firstly the artist ‘Andromeda Heightz’; her 'nom de plume'; differs in name from that of her actual birth, for the sake of retaining anonymity, aswell as being a symbolic pseudonym. It was a name prescribed over a decade ago to mark a significant period of rebirth and it now identifies all of her artworks, in addition to her online store.

Andromeda is a determined, socially engaged artist and is often to be seen perched over her crutches, due to her ongoing challenging health issues; she concerns herself with all levels of preparation, from the invitation to the souvenir of her artistic venture.

 As an artist Andromeda is committed to document each project; recording the productive process in its' entirety. Her creative enquiry has led to dedicated collecting of data, photographic evidence, film footage and numerous onsite sketches, as she explains her journey is fundamentally much more significant than the final result.




Throughout her artistic endeavours Andromeda's works often rely on the recognition of the audience as creator; with an aim to involve participants in a kind of ‘service exchange’ or to offer a ‘gift’ (which is intrinsic to or later becomes a crucial manifestation of the art piece). Consequently, the artwork continues to grow and evolve. She maintains that without her audiences contribution, it might be possible to say, the artwork cannot exist.



The aspect of sustainability is also an important concern to the artist and wherever possible salvaged or donated materials are re-employed and recycled into her work.  


Fundamentally, Andromeda believes that 'creative expression' is a crucial apsect of our human development and it is this philosophy that has expanded her research into a variety of fields; including music, theatre, film and dance, which have all contributed to her competent and established artistic career.
