PS. Unfortunately UK Coal were

given permission to mine and

develop the ancient forest

(Shortwood) at the recent National

Inquiry.

This seems to be a complete

step in the wrong direction

and regarding the Carbon

Emissions ?

And so acorns, beech nuts and

many other seeds were

gathered from the forest this

Autumn 2009 (as the boundary

fences go up). They are currently

being distributed at many of my

shows and exhibitions in an attempt

to continue the life of the ancient

woodland. And it shall always

remain close to my heart.+

Artist Statement

'I will plant a woodland of 'Wish Trees' to help us believe in ourselves'

AndromedaHeightz

To me 'Art' is what people want it to be, it is not a question of consensus and everyone does not have to share a single view on what it is.

I feel art can be described in many ways; a mastery of craftsmanship, a universal ideal of beauty, or perhaps as the material art object;and yet to others art can be seen as the process itself instead of a tangible artwork, so consequently I believe everyone can create art and that everyone is an artist.

I would define my Art as a vocation; within the bracket of, a type of 'holistic art' where by an artist seeks to explore, address and heal our relationship with nature, with each other and ultimately with ourselves.

I aim to create artwork that engages the general public in community issues, creates awareness of regional and global crises and protects fragile ecologies.

I always strive to work in close engagement with an audience in a participatory role and as a contributory co-creator.

The underlying theme throughout the majority of my work is one of myth and magic, with the 'wishing' concept as a focal point of my practice.

I have created a variety of different 'wishing pieces' at many festivals/exhibitions (both nationally and internationally); some site-specific, some permanent, some temporary, working mainly outside and mingling amongst the audience.

I aspire to raise awareness of the plight of our ancient sacred tree groves and encourage the revival of lost rituals that are a diminishing part of our everyday life, in conjunction with promoting healing and well-being through creative expression.

Where ever possible, I aim to use totem, fetish and iconography that can hopefully be interpreted by, appreciated by and can also relate to all audiences and peoples.

It seems so right, that now, more than ever we should strive to promote a global culture based on truth, diversity and acceptance.

I strongly believe it is time that the arts, sciences and spiritualities are one in reinforcing a greater understanding of, concern for and responsibility to a sustainable life on earth, for all, regardless of age, gender, ability, cultural or ethnic diversification,  or to whatever social economic catergory or political persuasion one belongs to.

And most of all, have some fun along the way.
